Idaho Falls is located in Central Idaho, along the Snake River, and in view
of the beautiful, high Teton Mountain peaks. Idaho Falls is the county seat of
Bonneville County, and a growing high-tech community.
Idaho Falls first started as a community which built around Taylor's
Crossing, named after Matt Taylor who built a toll bridge across the Snake River
in 1865. Later, the Idaho Falls Electric Cooperative constructed their famous
artificial falls which is right in the historic downtown area, and part of a
modern power generation plant.
Idaho Falls is proud to be generating its own hydroelectric power giving residents both low electric rates, and the satisfaction of knowing their energy is generated as low-carbon emmisions.
A beautiful river walkway is built around the river to the delight, and constant
use by Idaho Falls citizens. In almost any weather you can find people feeding
the ducks and geese, strolling the walkways, and out for their daily jogs. This
growing metropolitan area is turning into quite a high-tech hub for Idaho's
growing communities. |
As of the census of 2000, there were 50,730 people in the Idaho Falls area.
Idaho Falls has grown to join the nearby community, Ammon Idaho, which is
experiencing amazing growth.
All who live in Idaho Falls agree, this is a wonderful and prosperous community in which to live and raise a family. The downtown is walking and bike friendly. You will often find whole families enjoying the river walkway, strolling through the parks, and enjoying local museums.
